State takes over Tasila’s farm worth K8.8m
The State has officially taken over a farm belonging to former President EDGAR LUNGU’s daughter, TASILA, situated in Sinda District of Eastern province .
The seizure of the farm follows a judgment by the Economic and Financial Crimes Court which established that Ms. LUNGU failed to justify her source of income to warrant the purchase of the farm.
And Director Public Prosecutions -DPP-, GILBERT PHIRI says the government is working on a bill for management of forfeited properties.
Mr. PHIRI says law enforcement agencies have recovered and forfeited to the state, a lot of properties, suspected to be proceeds of crime, which are benefiting Zambians.
He said this today in Sinda district, Eastern province, when law enforcement wings officials visited the forfeited KUMAWA Ranch seized from Ms. Lungu .
And Mr. PHIRI has clarified that asset recovery and the fight against corruption is NOT targeted at any particular individuals.
He explained that the fight against corruption is meant at ensuring the resources in the country benefit all Zambians.
And Drug Enforcement Commission Director-General, NASON BANDA said the over 614 hectares farm is valued at over 8.8 million Kwacha.
