“Govt has made progress in Corruption fight”

Chief Government Spokesperson CORNELIUS MWEETWA says the progress being made in the fight against corruption is an indication that the New Dawn government is living up to its promise to fight graft in Zambia.
Mr. MWEETWA who was speaking today during a Press Briefing in Kalumbila District in North Western Province says the fight against corruption is without discrimination.
He also hailed the performance of the mining sector in the country especially in the North Western Province because of the stable mining policy regime.
AND Mr. MWEETWA who is also Information and Media Minister said the government will engage the Catholic Church on the way forward to address the church’s concerns contained in the Pastoral letter.
He said the government has seen the Catholic pastoral letter and is studying it to respond to it properly.
Mr MWEETWA who was speaking during a Press Briefing in Kalumbila District in North Western Province has advised UPND party members against responding to the letter.
The Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops- ZCCB has in its Pastoral letter expressed concerns about the political, economic, and social issues in the country.
The ZCCB has commended the government on the fight against corruption.
It has however urged the government to ensure that seized assets are used in a transparent and accountable manner for the benefit of the Zambian people.
