By Lupindula Mwewa
President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA is tomorrow expected to re-open Kalengwa Mine in Mufumbwe District.
The mine is expected to produce 150 tonnes of copper annually.
Moxico Resources Director DAVIS MWANAMOYA says the mine will in the next three years process the already available stock pile.
Mr. MWANAMOYA says the stock pile is estimated to produce 150,000 tonnes of copper annually.
He says mining will only start once the processing of the current stockpile is depleted.
Mr. MWANAMOYA says explorations indicate that the grade and quantity of copper is capable of sustaining operations.
Meanwhile, Mufumbwe Member of Parliament ELLIOTT KAMONDO has called on the mine to create meaningful jobs for local people during and after the construction of the mine.
Mr. KAMONDO says the reopening of Kalengwa Mine will revamp the economy in Mufumbwe through job creation.
