Govt launches second phase dose of Inactivated Polio Vaccine

Government has launched the second dose of the Inactivated Polio Vaccine -IPV as part of the 2024 second-round Child Health Week campaign.
Health Minister ELIJAH MUCHIMA launched the campaign in Lusaka today, describing the introduction of the second IPV dose as a major milestone in Zambia’s immunisation program.
Dr. MUCHIMA stressed the importance of the second -IPV-dose in closing gaps, reducing the risks of vaccine-derived polio outbreaks and imported cases.
And World Health Organisation -WHO- Country representative NATHAN BAKYAITA commended the initiative, emphasising the importance of complete immunization before a child’s first birthday.
