Lungu’s economic adviser Mwiinga bought 9 plots at $20,000 each -Witness

The LUSAKA Magistrates Court has heard that former President EDGAR LUNGU’s former Economic Advisor HIBEENE MWIINGA, facing proceeds of crime charges, allegedly bought nine plots from DANCROFT Investment Limited between 2012 and 2017.
Former DANCROFT Investment Limited Marketing Assistant JACQUILINE KATAPULA has testified that among the nine plots, eight are residential plots and one commercial plot.
Ms. KATAPULA has testified that the residential plots were pegged at 21,590 dollars each.
She has however testified that Mr. MWIINGA purchased some residential plots at 20,000 dollars each after negotiation.
Ms. KATAPULA has testified that Mr. MWIINGA paid for the plots in instalments.
She was testifying before LUSAKA Principal Resident Magistrate IRENE WISHIMANGA.
This is a matter where Mr. MWIINGA is facing 66 counts of corruption and possession of properties deemed to be proceeds of crime.
He is jointly charged with his wife MERCY MUSANJE and son HAKAANTU MWIINGA for possessing property suspected to be proceeds of crime.
The offence is contrary to Section 71 of the Forfeiture of Proceed of Crime Act Number 19 of 2010.
The matter has been adjourned to December 12, 2024 for further defence.
