M’membe’s trial on sedition starts

Trial has started in a matter where Socialist party leaders FRED M’MEMBE is charged with seditious practices.
Zambia Police Detective Inspector JONATHAN PHIRI has confirmed that Dr. M’MEMBE’s alleged Seditious Remarks were posted on his Facebook page and X-formerly Twitter in July, 2024.
Mr.PHIRI told the court that police had earlier examined Dr.M’MEMBE’s Facebook Page and X following a forensic search request.
Mr. PHIRI has testified that the Facebook Post dated July 16,2024 had 15,000 viewers.
He was testifying before LUSAKA Principal Resident Magistrate IDAH PHIRI.
The matter has been adjourned to tomorrow for further trial.
