“No Cholera case has been recorded “

Health Minister ELIJAH MUCHIMA says the country has not recorded any cholera cases this rain season.
Dr. MUCHIMA says the Government has put in place measures to strengthen surveillance and early detection of cholera.
Speaking to the media in Lusaka today, the Health Minister said there were suspected cholera cases in Kafue but that they were found to be negative.
Dr. MUCHIMA said the Ministry is working with women groups in markets such as Kamwala and Kabwata to ensure hygiene and sanitation practices are adhered to.
He said the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government will work on drainages in Lusaka that were blocked.
Cholera is caused by consuming contaminated water. Symptoms include: profuse watery diarrhea, vomiting, thirst, leg cramps, and restlessness or irritability
