Court demands written submissions in LUSAMBO proceeds of crime case

Former LUSAKA Province Minister BOWMAN LUSAMBO’s lawyers have been ordered to file written submissions, following their contention that his proceeds of crime case must be dismissed.
LUSAKA Chief Resident DAVIES CHIBWILI issued the order today following oral submissions by defence lawyer NKULA BOTHA.
Mr. BOTHA argued that Mr. LUSAMBO’s case must be dismissed on grounds that the prosecution has never filed his charge sheet before the court, since January 2022, when he was arrested and charged.
Mr. BOTHA has relied on Statutory Instrument Number 10 of 2024, rule two.
Meanwhile, Mr. LUSAMBO has countered allegations that his properties in LUSAKA’s CHAMBA Valley were procured from proceeds of crime.
Mr. LUSAMBO has testified that he procured the properties using income from his jobs in the private sector and business deals before he joined politics.
He has cited that he worked as Carnival Furnisher Sales Representative between 2008 and 2009, where he was fetching K30, 000 as salary and Commission every month.
The property is located in LUSAKA’s Chamba Valley, reasonably deemed to be proceed of crime.
