Lusaka Police Officer jailed for gun theft

A Police Officer of Lusaka has been jailed for theft of a government gun valued at three thousand KWACHA.
GIVEN KAYELU has been slapped with a one year sentence by LUSAKA Principal Resident Magistrate IRENE WISHIMANGA.
Magistrate WISHIMANGA has ruled that the prosecution has proved the case against Mr. KAYELU beyond reasonable doubt to warrant his conviction.
This is in a matter where Mr. KAYELU was charged with one count of theft by a public servant, pertaining to a government AK 47 rifle valued at three thousand kwacha.
Facts before the court are that, Mr. KAYELU stole the gun in question between June 4 and 6, 2023, in LUSAKA.
