Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister JACK MWIIMBU has advised the Zambia Correctional Service -ZCS- to refrain from giving confidential and security information to the public.
Mr. MWIIMBU says the Correctional Service has been elevated to the same level of other security agencies and should exhibit professionalism.
He said this during the official opening of the Zambia Correctional Service Senior Officers consultative meeting in Lusaka.
Mr. MWIIMBU assured the Correctional Service of government’s continued financial and human resource support through employment of more officers and increased funding.
And ZCS Commissioner General FREDRICK CHILUKUTU announced that the service has delivered over 2,000 metric tonnes of white maize to the Food Reserve Agency –FRA- as part of its efforts to contribute to the country’s food security.
Mr. CHILUKUTU said the maize is from the service’s four irrigated farms, adding that a total of 3,000 metric tonnes of white maize is expected to be delivered before the end of the year.
He also highlighted the service’s commitment to participating in mitigating the drought crisis, emphasizing that agriculture remains the only viable solution to food security.
Mr. CHILUKUTU further announced that the construction of the new Mwembeshi Correctional Facility is over ninety percent complete, adding that it is expected to decongest current correctional centers.
