NALUMANGO calls for action against social media misinformation

Vice President MUTALE NALUMANGO has urged professional communicators and Public Relations Practitioners to guard against misinformation on Social Media.
Mrs. NALUMANGO says misinformation if not countered has potential to cause irreparable misconceptions and misunderstanding on various issues in the country.
She has however bemoaned Public Relations Practitioners’ low compliance levels with the Zambia Institute of Public Relations and Communications -ZIPRC regulations.
Mrs. NALUMANGO was speaking in LUSAKA last night during the Zambia Institute of Public Relations and Communications -ZIPRC GALA Dinner.
And Information and Media Minister CORNELIUS MWEETWA said President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has directed that Chief Public Relations Practitioners be employed in all government ministries to streamline communication on government programmes.
Mr. MWEETWA said already government has employed Public Relations Practitioners at local government level across the country.
And -ZIPRC President IRENE CHIPILI pledged her institution’s commitment to partnering with government to improve communication flow on various national programmes.
At the same function, the Vice President was honoured as Zambia Institute of Public Relations and Communications -ZIPRC fellow, owing to her outstanding performance as leader of government business in the National Assembly.
On the sidelines, Local Government and Rural Development Permanent Secretary MAAMBO HAAMAUNDU, Drug Enforcement Commission –DEC- Director General NASON BANDA and ZANACO Bank Managing Director MUKWANDI CHIBESAKUNDA were among those honoured for outstandingly disseminating information on their institutions’ affairs.
