Debt worsens climate change effects-Muchende
By Hannock Kasama
Solicitor General Marshal Muchende says the effects of climate change in Zambia have been worsened by the debt crisis.
Mr. Muchende has urged developed countries to relieve developing countries of their debt burdens.
He also called for the International Court of Justice to mandate that developed nations fully participate in global efforts to address climate change.
He highlighted that climate change effects, such as droughts, have negatively impacted agriculture in Zambia.
Mr. Muchende made these remarks during the International Court of Justice’s Climate Change Hearing in The Hague, Netherlands, where he was accompanied by senior government officials and some of Zambia’s envoys.
