By Alice Lubasi
Unionised workers in local authorities across the country have been awarded a 500 Kwacha salary increment across the board.
Zambia United Local Authorities and Allied Workers Union -ZULAWU- President EMMANUEL MWINSA says the increment will be effected in January, next year.
Mr MWINSA says the union has also managed to negotiate for a 2 percent increment on transport allowance, which will now be at 17 percent.
Speaking during a stakeholders meeting in Lusaka today, Mr MWINSA said the Union has praised Government for the conditions that have been put in place for the workers.
He said by increasing the salaries, local Authorities will be motivated to work even harder.
