12 people died due to elephant attacks this year
By Angela Limwanya
Twelve people have been killed by elephants in Livingstone and Kazungula, Southern Province, from January this year to date.
Department of National Parks and Wildlife Senior Area Warden, Wilfred Moonga, disclosed this during the launch of the human-wildlife conflict campaign in Livingstone.
Tourism Minister, Rodney Sikumba, says the government is concerned that lives have continued being lost despite sensitizations in communities on how to handle wildlife.
Mr. Sikumba has called on stakeholders to join the government through its intensified sensitization programs in a bid to safeguard both human life and animals.
Speaking at the same event, WWF Zambia Country Director, Nalucha Ziba, said the organization has provided water for wildlife in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park in response to the effects of the drought.
