Cabinet approves ZNS training on voluntary basis

Cabinet has approved the training of youths by the Zambia National Service (ZNS) on a voluntary basis.
Chief Government Spokesperson, Cornelius Mweetwa, says the planned voluntary youth training by ZNS will equip the youths with various livelihood skills that will enable them to actively and positively participate in all spheres of human endeavours.
Mr. Mweetwa, who is also the Information and Media Minister, says this will inculcate the sense and spirit of entrepreneurship, hard work, and patriotism in the youth.
Mr. Mweetwa said this in a statement issued to ZNBC, highlighting the decisions made by Cabinet during the 25th Cabinet Meeting.
The minister also disclosed that Cabinet has approved the issuance of the National Pension Scheme (Pensionable Earnings) (Amendment) Regulations, 2024, for January 1st to December 31st, 2025.
Mr. Mweetwa said the issuance of the Statutory Instrument will ensure that the member contributions and benefits paid by the National Pension Scheme are kept in line with wage inflation.
Meanwhile, the Chief Government Spokesperson announced that the country will host the 2025 Meeting of the African Centre for Aquatic Research and Education (ACARE) in Lusaka.
He said Cabinet approved the hosting of the 2025 Meeting of the African Centre for Aquatic Research and Education (ACARE) from February 4th to 7th, 2025, in Lusaka.
Mr. Mweetwa disclosed that Cabinet reflected on the importance of the recently developed Citizens Support Services Portal, which will be launched by the government.
