Muchima warns KTH contractors
By Chembe Mbale
Health Minister, Elijah Muchima, has warned the eight contractors working on the modernization of Kitwe Teaching Hospital that their contracts will be terminated if they continue abrogating contractual agreements.
Dr. Muchima says if contractors are failing to meet the required standards and not finishing work within the stipulated time, the government will have no option but to terminate their contracts.
He said this when he checked on the progress of works at Kitwe Teaching Hospital.
Dr. Muchima has also instructed the procurement team at his ministry to prioritize the procurement of a C-arm image intensifier for Kitwe Teaching Hospital.
Meanwhile, Kitwe Teaching Hospital Medical Superintendent, Mboni Chileshe, says management is concerned with the slow pace of the face-lifting project as some contractors have gone beyond the work implementation schedule.
Earlier, Copperbelt Health Director, Dr. Charles Mwinuna, said eight contractors have been engaged to work on the modernization of Kitwe Teaching Hospital.
Dr. Mwinuna said the province is making significant strides in strengthening the healthcare system.
