“Syakalima Calls for Moral Lessons in Early Childhood Education
Education Minister Douglas Syakalima is advocating for the inclusion of morals and ethical behavior lessons in Early Childhood education. He believes that instilling these values in young children will foster a society where people respect others’ properties.
Mr Syakalima expressed concern over the widespread theft of government resources, citing it as a sign of moral decay in the country. He questioned how the nation had reached this point, emphasizing that looting state property is unacceptable.
The Minister made these remarks at the Rusangu Secondary School 2024 Reunion Gala Dinner, which aimed to raise funds for constructing additional dormitories for girls. On a positive note, Syakalima highlighted the success of the free education policy, which has led to over 2 million children enrolling in school, with half of them being girls.
Seventh Day Adventist South Zambia Conference President Dr. Vanny Munumbwe assured that the church remains committed to supporting government efforts in delivering quality education for all.
