Govt spends K14m to buy equipment for former street kids

Government has spent over 14- million Kwacha to empower over 500 former street children with tools and equipment to start businesses.
Ministry of Community Development and Social Services Director for Child Development, SILAMBE MIYAMBANGO says the equipment was provided after the youths underwent training under the Zambia National Service -ZNS- program.
In an interview with ZNBC News, Ms. MIYAMBANGO urged the beneficiaries to focus on building sustainable livelihoods and avoid returning to the streets.
And a former street kid and beneficiary of the skills training, RAY KAITE, expressed gratitude for the opportunity, saying the sewing machine she received symbolizes a fresh start and a brighter future.
