The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested a Ndola businessman for corrupt practices involving 8,000 Kwacha.
Yusuuf Salid Abdidahir, aged 45, of Itwa area, has been charged with one count of corrupt practices.
In a statement to ZNBC News in Lusaka today, ACC Head of Corporate Communications Timothy Moono says the accused, while acting together with others unknown, corruptly offered money to the Copperbelt Province Deputy Permanent Secretary.
Mr. Moono says the money was given as a bribe in order for the Deputy Permanent Secretary to influence the release of a truck and a trailer which was impounded by the Zambia National Service in Ndola.
He says the truck was allegedly impounded for attempting to smuggle over 1,000 bags of mealie meal into the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Mr. Moono says the truck has been handed over to the Zambia Revenue Authority for further investigation.
He says Mr. Abdidahir has been released on bond and will appear in court.
