Lawyer confirms ‘Why Me’ is safe and awaiting court appearance
By Moombe Hamoobola
One of the lawyers representing Francis Kapwepwe, commonly known as ‘Why Me,’ says his client is alive and safe.
Anthony Bwalya of KBF and Partners says Why Me is safe and alive and waiting to appear in court.
Meanwhile, Mr. Bwalya says it is not true that his client was denied bail following his arrest on charges of hate speech.
He told journalists that his client was granted cash bail of 10,000 Kwacha and two working sureties on August 16, 2024.
Mr. Bwalya said, unfortunately, it took time for the sureties to come and sign for him.
He said the sureties are present today and are expected to sign for him once the matter comes up in court.
Mr. Kapwepwe is charged with two offenses for expressing hatred for persons because of race, tribe, and place of origin.
