950,000 Kwacha Robbery: Lusaka Businessman Shot and Hospitalized

A Lusaka businessman is battling for his life after being allegedly robbed of 950,000 Kwacha by criminals in an attempted murder and aggravated robbery attack in Lusaka.

The victim was allegedly attacked by criminals on Lusaka’s Lumumba Road.

According to a statement to ZNBC News in Lusaka, Police Public Relations Officer Rae Hamoonga said Sydney Mateyo was shot in the left armpit and robbed of 950,000 Kwacha after a scuffle with the assailants.

Mr. Hamoonga said Mr. Mateyo was proceeding to town after withdrawing the money from the bank on Mukatasha Road.

He said Mr. Mateyo was ambushed by the suspected criminals who were in a white unregistered Toyota Mark Two.

Mr. Hamoonga said Mr. Mateyo, who is a Mobile Money Dealer, is admitted to the University Teaching Hospital, and his condition remains critical as the bullet is still lodged in his body.
