The Zambia Tourism Agency (ZTA) has projected that over 2.2 million international tourists will visit the country this year.
Agency Chairman, Daan Brink, says international arrivals globally are expected to grow by eight to nine percent this year.
Speaking to ZNBC News, Mr. Brink attributed last year’s success of 2 million international tourists coming into Zambia to the agency’s engagement of an international public relations firm, among other efforts.
He noted that this marketing effort made Zambia known to 1.5 billion people worldwide.
Mr. Brink further urged the Zambia Airports Corporation to prioritize attracting new airlines to the country, which would enable the tourism sector to grow and double its contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
