Malanji, Yamba to Start Defense on Feb 12

Former Foreign Affairs Minister, JOSEPH MALANJI and former Secretary to the Treasury FREDSON YAMBA are expected to open their defence on February 12, 2025 following the defense’s request to extend time to file in documents among them statements of witnesses.
This was after the second accused Mr. YAMBA, requested for extension of time to file documents which he intends to use in his defence.
When the matter came up for opening to defence before Senior Resident Magistrate, IRENE WISHIMANGA, Mr. YAMBA asked the court for extension of time, to file more documents.
The matter was heard in the chambers.
In this matter, MALANJI and YAMBA are charged with willful failure to comply with laid down procedures and possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime.
YAMBA is charged with two counts of willful failure to comply with laid down procedures while MALANJI is facing eight counts of being in possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime.
