Lusaka District has recorded its first case of Mpox.
Health Minister Elijah Muchima says on Monday, test results for a 34-year-old female came out positive.
Dr. Muchima says the patient has been transferred to the University Teaching Hospital Infectious Diseases Ward, where she is being managed and is in a stable condition.
He says the close contacts of the case are also under close monitoring by the health authorities.
Dr. Muchima says the new case brings the cumulative confirmed cases of Mpox to six.
He told journalists at a media briefing in Lusaka today that the fourth case of Mpox involves a 28-year-old woman from Zimba compound in Mufulira, an area a few kilometers from the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Dr. Muchima said the patient is currently in isolation at Chibolya Clinic in Mufulira, and her close contacts have been traced.
Meanwhile, Dr. Muchima has handed over 200 handwashing tanks to provincial health facilities.
And Dr. Muchima said Nakonde District has not recorded any cholera cases for the sixth consecutive day.
