The Zambia National Service -ZNS- has dismissed one officer over smuggling activities.
ZNS has also acquitted one officer, while five others have been referred to the court martial following allegations of smuggling.
ZNS Chief of Administration, Brigadier General DANIEL SIKAZWE, has revealed that the seven implicated officers though stationed in different districts, were operating in the same area.
Speaking to Journalists during a ZNS tour of projects in Southern Province, Brigadier General SIKAZWE said the court martial process began on Wednesday, with the next session scheduled for this week.
Meanwhile, ZNS Commander, Lieutenant General MALITI SOLOCHI, has warned that he will not hesitate to take decisive action against officers found engaging in illegal activities.
General SOLOCHI said smuggling tarnishes the image of the service and vowed to deal firmly with officers involved in criminal acts.
He said such behaviour undermines the integrity of the many hardworking and dedicated officers within the service.
