Two K20m Dams completed in Southern Province

Two dams worth over K20-million in Southern Province have been completed and are ready for commissioning, while construction works on three others are progressing steadily.
The five dams are part of the eleven being built by the Zambia National Service -ZNS- and the Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation, aimed at improving water accessibility and supporting agricultural activities in the region.
Southern Province Minister, CREDO NANJUWA, has commended ZNS for its commitment and efficiency in implementing the project.
Speaking during a courtesy call by ZNS Commander, Lieutenant General MALITI SOLOCHI, in Choma, the Minister pledged support in ensuring the timely completion of the project and promoting local contractors.
General SOLOCHI stressed the importance of high-quality infrastructure, urging ZNS engineers to construct durable dams that will serve communities for generations.
The ZNS Commander also announced plans to stock some of the dams with 100 thousand fish fingerlings to promote aquaculture in the region.
Meanwhile, Kalomo District Commissioner, JOSHUA SIKADULI, expressed optimism about the impact of the dams, highlighting their potential to accelerate development through increased water supply for agriculture, livestock and domestic use.
