Zambia set to host World Skills Africa Competition and Conference Day
President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says Zambia has made significant efforts to mobilize funds from the private sector and has dedicated financial and human resources to successfully host the 2025 World Skills Africa Competition and Conference Day.
The President also noted that Zambia will host the World Skills Africa capacity building program in 2025, supported by German Development Cooperation.
President HICHILEMA emphasized the significance of skills training for African youth, adding that it’s crucial for achieving Agenda 2063 and implementing the African Continental Free Trade Agreement.
President HICHILEMA said this today during the 42nd Session of the African Union Development Agency (AUDA) – NEPAD Heads of State and government orientation virtual meeting.
The President emphasized the critical role of the organization in driving the vision of Agenda 2063.
Zambia was granted the right to host the 2025 World Skills Day, which was initially scheduled for April, in recognition of President HICHILEMA’s and government’s commitment to skills training.
During the meeting chaired by the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt and Chairperson of the AUDA-NEPAD Heads of State and Government Orientation Committee, President HICHILEMA gave an update on Zambia’s preparations to host the 2025 World Skills Africa
Competition and Conference Day.
President HICHILEMA’s commitment to skills training was praised by Malawi’s Presidents LAZARUS CHAKWERA, and Senegal’s President BASSIROU DIOMAYE FAYE.
And, President HICHILEMA stressed the importance of infrastructure development for Africa, emphasizing the Lobito corridor and the TAZARA rail line.
He called for collaboration between the African Union Development Agency (AUDA), the African Development Bank, and the African Export and Import Bank to support regional infrastructure interconnectivity.
President HICHILEMA also made the case for Africa to increase its energy sufficiency by expanding generation and transmission inter-connectors.
