National Assembly Resumes
The Fourth Session of the Thirteenth National Assembly, which adjourned sine die on Friday, 6th December 2024, will resume today at 14:30 hours.
The National Assembly will welcome two new Members of Parliament, Justin Kapema of Pambashe Constituency and Simon Banda of Petauke Central Constituency.
Clerk of the National Assembly of Zambia, Roy Ngulube, says the upcoming session, referred to as the Legislative Meeting, will focus on the legislative process, where proposed bills and laws are debated and reviewed in Parliament.
Mr. Ngulube says the session marks the second meeting on the Parliamentary Calendar and follows the previous meeting, which was dedicated to the presentation and approval of the National Budget.
He explains that one of the major highlights of the last meeting was the rollout of the sector budget analysis, an initiative piloted in 2022 and 2023.
Mr. Ngulube has further encouraged citizens and various stakeholders to actively participate in the legislative process by submitting their views through the relevant committees of the House.
In a statement to ZNBC News, Mr. Ngulube said it is important for the public to be involved in shaping national legislation and policies, urging them to take an interest in the proceedings.
