Tourism Sees Rise in 2024 Arrivals

The Tourism Industry has recorded an increase in international arrivals in 2024, with over TWO million visitors.
This represents a 35 percent increase compared to over ONE million, THREE hundred thousand recorded in 2023.
Tourism Minister, RODNEY SIKUMBA has attributed the growth to the government’s increased investment in the sector, with the budget allocation rising by 281 percent since 2021.
Speaking during a press briefing in Lusaka today, Mr. SIKUMBA noted the successful re-launch of the domestic tourism campaign “Take Holiday Yamu Loko” attracting 51 operators and the restocking of three national parks with various animal species.
And Ministry of Tourism Permanent Secretary EVANS MUHANGA noted the importance of teamwork, stating that the ministry cannot achieve its goals alone.
Meanwhile, Tourism Council of Zambia Chairperson, YOUSUF ZUMLA recommended the improvement of road infrastructure in major tourism sites to boost tourism.
