Kawana Assures Assistance for Artistes in Need
By Patricia Banda
Information and Media Permanent Secretary, Thabo Kawana, says the government will help artistes in need regardless of their political affiliation.
Mr. Kawana said this when he saw off comedian Webster Chiluba, also known as Kasaka, back to Ndola after he was discharged from Maina Soko Hospital in Lusaka yesterday.
He said artistes will be helped because they play a very important role in society in the entertainment sector.
Mr. Kawana also said the government will stiffen cybercrime laws to protect victims being abused on social media.
Mr. Kawana was responding to a call by Prisca Chiluba, wife of comedian Webster Chiluba, who expressed concern regarding posts on social media that her husband had died when he fell sick recently.
Comedian Webster Kasaka has thanked the government for coming to his aid.
Mr. Kasaka told ZNBC News that he has been discharged and will be back at the hospital after two weeks for a review.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Youth, Sport and Art Permanent Secretary, Chileshe Kangwa, said the government has placed a premium on youth and artistes.
