FAZ Supports Young Footballer Lydia Shamalime with Groceries and Funds
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has extended a helping hand to 17-year-old Under-20 and Zambia Institute of Sustainable Development (ZISD) player Lydia Shamalime, who was struggling to make ends meet.
FAZ General Secretary, Reuben Kamanga, recently visited Shamalime’s home in Chainda Township, where he presented her family with assorted groceries and funds to help with their rental problems.
The young player’s plight had been highlighted by a local journalist, prompting FAZ to take action.
Kamanga has since encouraged clubs to take care of their players, particularly minors, who are not entitled to full remuneration due to FIFA regulations.
The association plans to engage with its membership and player representative bodies to find long-term solutions to the challenges faced by young players like Shamalime.
The gesture by FAZ is seen as a positive step towards supporting the welfare of young footballers in Zambia.
This is according to a statement issued to ZNBC Sports by Kamanga.
