Govt Commissions Luombwa Acrow Bridge in Serenje District
The government has commissioned the Luombwa Acrow Bridge in Serenje District, Central Province, constructed at a cost of under 7 million Kwacha.
The bridge, located on the Nansanga Farm Block, was constructed to ease the mobility of local people.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Infrastructure, Housing, and Urban Development Minister Charles Milupi disclosed that the bridge will serve about 2,000 people in the area.
Mr. Milupi assured that President Hakainde Hichilema will do whatever it takes to ensure that the country’s road network and bridges are restored to support economic activities as well as create jobs.
Speaking at the same event, Central Province Minister Mwabashike Nkulukusa said the bridge is timely as it will interconnect the farming block and the mines in the area.
Mr. Nkulukusa said the bridge will also play a critical role in lowering the costs of doing trade between the mining and agriculture sectors in the area.
Meanwhile, Road Development Agency (RDA) Board Chairperson Mulchand Kuntawala says so far, 12 Acrow Bridges have been commissioned across the country.
Mr. Kuntawala said three are nearing completion, while 10 will be constructed this year.
Mr. Kuntawala further reaffirmed RDA’s commitment to ensuring that a total of 131 Acrow Bridges are successfully constructed across various water bodies.
