Govt Confirms Lungu Undergoing Routine Checkups in SA

The government says former President Edgar Lungu is in South Africa undergoing routine medical checkups.
In a ministerial statement to the National Assembly, Health Minister Elijah Muchima said the government continues to monitor Mr. Lungu’s health.
Dr. Muchima, however, said the government will not disclose the specifics of the former President’s health condition out of respect for his privacy.
He assured the public that the government is dedicated to ensuring the former President receives the necessary care.
Dr. Muchima said Mr. Lungu is a highly regarded member of society who deserves quality healthcare and full support during his medical treatments.
Dr. Muchima also said the government is monitoring the health of FDD President Edith Nawakwi, who is undergoing treatment.
He said that similarly, the government will not go into the specifics of her treatment to respect her privacy.
