UPND appoints Peter Phiri as EP Chairperson

The ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) has appointed Peter Phiri as the new Eastern Province Chairperson.

UPND Secretary General Batuke Imenda says Alex Phiri has been appointed as the Deputy Chairperson.

Mr. Peter Phiri has been promoted from Provincial Treasurer.

Mr. Imenda told journalists at a press briefing that Lucky Matongo has been reinstated as Provincial Youth Chairperson, while Hellen Phiri has been appointed to head the women’s wing.

The UPND Secretary General has called for unity among party members to strengthen the party structures in the province.
