Govt Considering Support to Radio Stations with Wildlife Content
By Christopher Miti
Information and Media Minister Cornelius Mweetwa says the government will find ways to support radio stations that are focused on wildlife conservation.
Mr. Mweetwa says he will engage his Tourism counterpart on how the ministry can support Mnkhanya FM in Mambwe, which is playing a major role in conservation.
Speaking when he toured Mnkhanya FM, Mr. Mweetwa urged the station to continue providing information such as the introduction of new banknotes and the Constituency Development Fund.
Earlier, Mnkhanya FM station manager Lucas Mwale said poaching has reduced in South Luangwa National Park owing to the anti-poaching messages by the station.
Meanwhile, Independent Broadcasting Authority Acting Director General Susan Ndumingu is impressed with the performance of the station.
Earlier, Mambwe District Commissioner William Banda said the station is discharging its mandate well.
