ZNBC Commemorates World Mother Language Day, Promotes Linguistic Diversity
The Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) has joined the global community in commemorating World Mother Language Day.
The day is dedicated to celebrating linguistic diversity and promoting multilingual education.
Head of Corporate Affairs, Yvette Chanda, says that as a national broadcaster, ZNBC recognizes the importance of preserving and promoting the different languages that make up Zambia.
In a statement released in Lusaka today, Ms. Chanda said ZNBC understands that mother tongue languages are vital carriers of cultural heritage, identity, and knowledge.
She says ZNBC’s commitment to promoting mother tongue languages is evident in the Radio 1 channel, which was recently voted as Zambia’s most preferred channel.
Ms. Chanda said this is a testament to the vital role Radio 1 plays in connecting with diverse audiences in their mother tongue.
