Grass-Thatched Shelter Collapse Kills boy in Eastern Province

A 3-year-old boy has died after a grass-thatched shelter fell on him in Nyimba District, Eastern Province.

This happened on Monday this week between 17:00 and 18:00 in Chieftainess Mwape’s area.

Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer, Robertson Mweemba, has confirmed and identified the deceased boy as Moses Tembo.

Mr. Mweemba says the boy was with his mother and elder brother at their crop fields when they decided to seek refuge from the rain in the shelter.

He explained that the shelter collapsed, killing the boy, while the mother and elder brother survived with injuries.
