2 Chingola Mines Shut Down for Operating Without Proper Documentation
By Tamara Muswala
Two mines in Chingola on the Copperbelt have been shut down for operating without proper documentation.
Oliya Investments has been operating without a ZEMA license despite being incorporated in June 2024, while Copa Investments has been operating with expired documents dating back to 2019.
Green Economy and Environment Minister Mike Mposha, who ordered the closure of the two companies, said it is sad that Zambian nationals who have been put as fronts are being used to violate the law with impunity by undertaking business without following regulations.
The Minister has summoned the directors of the two companies to appear before the ZEMA Copperbelt regional offices within 48 hours.
Mr. Mposha said it is sad that some investors are compromising the environment through their operations.
