Lumezi Town Council Disburses K13.5m for Cash-for-Work Programme
The Lumezi Town Council has paid out 13.5 million Kwacha to over 22,500 beneficiaries engaged in the cash-for-work programme since its inception in September 2024.
The cash-for-work payment rate has improved following the recruitment of 24 data entry clerks across the 11 wards.
Lumezi District Commissioner Lufeyo Ngoma, who is the Cash-for-Work program implementation Chairperson, says residents appreciate the government initiative as it has created temporary employment to mitigate hunger in their households.
Mr. Ngoma said at the start of the programme, some beneficiaries delayed getting paid due to the submission of incorrect details.
He says the engagement of data entry clerks will help ease the challenge.
