ZCSA Withdraws Over 5,000 Non-Compliant Electrical Products
The Zambia Compulsory Standards Agency (ZCSA) has restricted and withdrawn over 5,000 non-compliant electrical products pending destruction and corrective measures by suppliers.
ZCSA Communications and Public Manager Brian Hatyoka says the move is to ensure the protection of the environment and people from unsafe products.
Mr. Hatyoka says the potential risks posed by these products include personal injury, electric shock, fire, and damage to property.
He adds that the enforcement intervention was undertaken during the Agency’s Open Market Surveillance inspection conducted from February 11 to February 14, 2025.
Mr. Hatyoka disclosed that the Market Surveillance inspections covered major trading hubs, retail outlets, and importers along Cairo, Cha-Cha-Cha, and Kafue roads.
