Nominations for the Mtilizi Ward by-election in Nyimba set for March 11

The Electoral Commission of Zambia – ECZ- has urged aspiring candidates for Mtilizi Ward of Nyimba Constituency to follow all laid down procedures during filling in of nomination papers set for 11th March, 2025.

This is ahead of the by-election slated for April 10th , 2025 .

ECZ Vice Chairperson ALI SIMWINGA says the Commission wants to ensure that all candidates , polling agents and political parties have an understanding of what is required for nominations .

Mr SIMWINGA said this during a stakeholders meeting with aspiring candidates, political parties, the media, monitors and observers held at the Nyimba Council Civil Centre.

He has also called for a peaceful environment before, during and after the poll day.

Meanwhile, Nyimba District Electoral officer GIBSON MWEEMBA urged political parties not to use vulgar language against each other during campaigns.

The MTILIZI by elections fell vacant after the PF Councillor EVERISTO PHIRI resigned last year in December.
