
Former Zambia Army Chief dies

Former Zambia Army Commander General ISAAC CHISUZI has died.
General CHISUZI died in the early hours of today, Monday March 10, 2025 at Lusaka’s Maina Soko Medical Centre after an illness.
Zambia Army Commander Lieutenant General GEOFFREY ZYEELE has announced in a statement released to ZNBC news in Lusaka today.
Lieutenant General ZYEELE said General CHISUZI who was the 10th Army Commander was the only Army Chief to serve as a Four Star General.
General CHISUZI joined the Army in 1972 during the first intake of locally trained officers and was commissioned as an officer in the Zambia Army on July 28, 1972.
He served as Army Commander from January 24, 2002 to April 4, 2010, making him the longest General to serve as Army Chief.
In recognition of his profession and contribution to the Defence Force, the Bangladesh Defence Force inducted General CHISUZI in the Mirpur Hall of Fame at a colourful ceremony which was held on August 25, 2022 at Bangladesh Defence Services Command and Staff College in Dhaka.
This is according to a statement released by Zambia Army Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel SYDNEY MWEWA.
