No Intention to Increase President’s Term of Office-Nalumango
By Wilson Mulinda
Vice President Mutale Nalumango says there are no intentions to increase the term of office for the President through the amendment of the constitution.
Mrs. Nalumango says the motive behind the amendment of the constitution is to improve and enhance citizen participation in governance.
She says government is aware of opposition politicians spreading falsehoods and misinforming the public.
Mrs. Nalumango said this in the National Assembly in response to a question by Mkaika Member of Parliament Peter Phiri who wanted to find out the reason behind the urgency of amending the constitution.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Nalumango has also condemned politicians supporting youths that are in the habit of using unpalatable language.
She said Zambians are able to see the people enticing youths to insult leaders and elderly citizens, and should not cry foul when the law catches up with them.
