
Govt Launches New Youth Financing Model to Improve CDF Efficiency and Impact

Government has introduced a youth financing model where 20 percent of the loan empowerment component of the Constituency Development Fund -CDF- dedicated to young people, will be managed in collaboration with financial institutions.
Speaking at the 2025 Youth Indaba in Lusaka, President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA said this is to enhance efficiency.
He said the new model follows concerns over the poor management of the facility under the CDF.
He said the mechanism will improve beneficiary selection and loan repayment to ensure more young people benefit.
President HICHILEMA said although financial institutions will be incorporated, Government will retain full control and ownership of the program.
Additionally, President HICHILEMA said Government also attended several initiatives aimed at youth empowerment, including the reintroduction of Youth Connect Zambia, which links young people to national and global opportunities.
And, President HICHILEMA called on the corporate worked to sponsor students interested to undetake the voluntary national service training.
And, Youth, Sports, and Arts Minister ELVIS NKANDU said the 2025 Youth Indaba has attracted over 3,000 young people from across the country, including all 156 constituencies.
Mr. NKANDU said the Indaba is a platform for Government to engage with young people on key issues.
