
No bail, bond for defilers – CSOs, Church demand

Civil Society Organisations, the Church, Musicians and students have petitioned Government to amend the Law to introduce stiffer punishments for perpetrators of defilement.
The petitioners have demanded for among others for the law to be amended for people accused of defilement and rape not to be granted police bond or Bail.
#NGOCC Board Chairperson, BEAUTY KATEBE read out the petition which also demanded that prisoners serving jail terms for defilement and rape must not qualify for Presidential pardons.
The petitioners also demanded that those convicted for defilement must undergo surgical castration.
Vice President MUTALE #NALUMANGO received the petition in the company of Justice Minister PRINCESS #KASUNE.
Mrs. NALUMANGO said the issue of defilement concerns everyone and Citizens must take a stand against the Vice.
The Vice President said she has heard the petition on the need to amend the Law to include stiffer punishments for perpetrators of defilement.
Mrs. NALUMANGO said laws follow the demands and needs of society for amendment.
Zambia Association of Musicians President BRIAN #BWEMBYA said perpetrators of defilement must not be given police bond or Bail.
