
Lubambe Mine invests $92m to increase copper production

Lubambe Mine has so far invested 92 million United States dollars to improve its technical operations to increase copper production at the mine.
Speaking during a meeting with the Mines Minister PAUL KABUSWE and Copperbelt Minister ELISHA MATAMBO, the Mine’s Chief Executive officer WU SHUANJUN said from the 300 million US Dollars pledged investment, 200 million part payment has been made and will be used to sink the two new shafts.
And the Lubambe mine Deputy CEO said the mine has paid over 180 million US dollars to suppliers and contractors since they took over operations.
Meanwhile Mr KABUSWE said the investment pumped into the mine is clear indication of the confidence they have in the government’s policies.
The Mines Minister, is confident that the sinking of the two shafts will push the mines production to the targeted 45,000 metric tons of Copper.
And Mr. MATAMBO urged the mine to prioritize local contractors and suppliers’ in terms of businesses and payments.
