
Zambia to Improve Tourism Infrastructure – HH

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says his Administration will continue improving policies relating to the tourism sector to boost the industry.
President HICHILEMA says tourism remains at the centre of the country’s development and that Zambia has great tourism endowments.
He says Zambia’s geographical location also gives it added advantage as a preferred tourism destination.
Speaking when United Nations World #Tourism Organisation Secretary General ZURAB POLOLIKASHVILI called on him at State House in Lusaka today, President HICHILEMA said Government understands the importance of infrastructure development to the tourism sector and is working hard to improve the situation.
He said t the tourism sector remained resilient at a time when Zambia’s economy experienced slow down.
And Mr. POLOLIKASHVILI said that the United Nations Tourism is thinking of working with Zambia in the education sector and would like to help the country build capacity.
He said the Organization is also working on encouraging investment to be brought to Zambia as there are many opportunities in the country.
Mr. POLOLIKASHVILI advised Zambia to improve on its connectivity by introducing more direct flights into the country.
Meanwhile, Tourism Minister RODNEY SIKUMBA said that the second edition of the Travel, Hospitality and Tourism Education Summit is aimed at bridging skills gaps in the tourism sector.
And Dominican Republic Vice Minister of International Cooperation for the Ministry of Tourism, CARLOS PEGUERO pledged his country’s commitment to strengthen bonds in the Tourism sector between Africa and the Dominican Republic.
