
Malaria cases drop by about 50% in Mwansabombwe
Health authorities in Mwasabombwe District have recorded a reduction in malaria cases.
District Malaria Information Officer Nyambe Nyambe says the incidence rate has dropped to 559 per 1,000 populations as of last year.
He said in 2003 the district had experienced high malaria incidence rate, with 1,009 cases per 1,000 populations.
Mr Nyambe says the district wants to reduce further the cases of malaria..
He also explained that interventions such as mass distribution of insecticide-Treated Nets have helped to reduce malaria in the district.
And District Health Director Abraham Bupe said improved health infrastructure and Partnerships have helped the district to manage the disease.
