
Finish TopStar, Studios Projects – Parley Committee

The Parliamentary Committee on Media, Information and Communication Technologies has appealed to Government to complete works at #TopStar Network Operation Centre and the Provincial Studios.
Committee Chairperson RAPHAEL MABENGA says works are above 80- percent completion stage hence the need to have them finished as soon as possible.
He says the equipment procured must be installed before it becomes absolute so that the Zambian people can benefit from it.
Mr .MABENGA was speaking after the Committee toured Topstar Network Operation Centre at Mass Media Complex in #Lusaka.
Speaking earlier, #ZNBC Director General BERRY LWANDO said the Corporation has 40- percent shares in Topstar while #Hantex has 60.
And Topstar Board Co-Chairperson JACQUELINE CHISHIMBA appealed to the Committee to engage the Government so that works are completed as investigations are ongoing.
Topstar Chief Executive Officer JOHN ZHUANG said of the one point two million Topstar decoder users, only over 20 percent are active subscribers.
And Committee Member SYDNEY MUSHANGA said the Committee will make recommendations to Government through the Ministry of Information and Media on the need for the projects to resume and be completed as soon as possible.
Another Committee Member CHANDA KATOTOBWE appealed to the Executive to resolve the matter as soon as possible because technocrats have limitations.
