Health Authorities Halt Theft of Malaria Drug in North Western Province

Health authorities in North Western Province have successfully stopped the theft of the malaria drug Coartem, which was being sold in neighboring countries.
North Western Provincial Health Director Dr. Charles Chidikita stated that some health workers were allegedly collaborating with others to steal Coartem from various health facilities.
He revealed that one of the culprits, a nurse, was identified, and measures have been taken to secure the medicines in all health facilities across the country.
Dr. Chidikita said the government is working hard to procure all essential medicines for the people, highlighting the need to safeguard these drugs.
He noted that the province is well-stocked with essential medicines such as ARVs.
Dr. Chidikita made these remarks when a team of officials from ZAMMSA paid a courtesy call at his office.
Meanwhile, ZAMMSA Corporate Affairs Officer Gift Kalaba affirmed that his institution is committed to supplying medicines to provinces on time.
